New Backbeater Sensor & Android Version Now on Kickstarter
Posted by Jarrod Whaley on
Today we are excited to announce that a new version of Backbeater is on Kickstarter! We have been bringing Backbeater to drummers for several years, and in that time we have learned a lot about what drummers need—both from our sensor hardware, and within our app. Now we have an all-new sensor design, and we're bringing support to Android phones for the first time! Our goal was to design a product that would correctly monitor tempo, display it clearly, and make it easy to use in the playing environments of modern drummers. By optimizing your mobile device’s large screen and...
Update #10

Hi Kickstarters, The Luxi manufacturer had a couple logistical issues last week, which resulted in an interruption of the production run, but we’ve been assured the whole order will be complete by July 29. We’ve made the executive decision to get all the Luxis sent here by air-freight as soon as they’re done, in an effort to make up for some lost time. So we’re really optimistic about getting them in the post to you starting the first week of August. I’ve brought on a great new hire, Jarrod. He’s smart and he’s fast and he’s going to work all...

Luxi Update 8
Posted by James Flynn on
We shipped the machined (hand-finished) Luxis out on May 30, so the super-early adopters should have theirs now. We’re especially grateful to you guys for your investment in the Luxi project. You helped us enormously and your contribution is much appreciated. The final production models arrived in-house today, and they look fantastic. We had a little back-and-forth about the packaging, and a small rubber grip pad that helps to secure Luxi in place. Initially the pad was grey but we decided - to look just right, it needed to be black. Both the microfiber pouch and the lanyard...

Luxi Update
Posted by James Flynn on
Thursday May 16th Hi Everyone, We're on track to have all manufacture complete by the start of June. The diffusion dome tooling is complete, and the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4(S) clips are wrapping up next week. The machined (ABS) versions are shipping on May 20th.Once the production is complete we'll be getting them shipped to us, then to you. We looked into having them ship direct to you from the manufacturer to expedite the process, but that turned out to be impossible. Instead we're going to have them packaged, put into mailers, addressed and labelled by the manufacturer,...

It's Getting Hot in Here
Posted by James Flynn on
You may have noticed we jazzed up the website a little, finally. Well there's a lot more going on behind the scenes... We're really busy with Luxi. It's amazing to think we've taken a product from invention through to manufacturing in just a few months. In a large part we have our Kickstarter backers to thank for that. We've had numerous design iterations, a lot of back-and-forth with app developers. We've made two versions, and designed packaging to boot! We couldn't do it without our lead Industrial Designer, Shane. He's a total legend. When he's not designing great products for...
