Working Hard on the New Backbeater App

Posted by James Flynn on

The new Backbeater app is almost done, we're just tweaking the all-new strike detection algorithm so we can have a great user experience for every kind of drummer. Turns out the variation in sensor signal level, mounting techniques, and how hard different drummers hit their drums means we have to cover a wide range of sensitivities.

The x-axis in the chart below is the sensitivity value in the app, the y-axis is the energy of the strike that will trigger a strike event. We've given you plenty of resolution at high sensitivity for soft hits, so you can get really picky with your ghost notes, and a really fast roll off at the bottom, for when you're channelling Keith Moon! Also lots of sensitivity range in the middle for your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill drummer, like me. :)
